The press conference on Wednesday, January 25th at NASA ‘s Johnson Space Center will highlight the SpaceX Crew-6 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) planned for February. The mission will be the sixth rotation crew flight of NASA involving a US commercial spacecraft. In addition to the crew, a scientific experiment will also be transported to the ISS.
Mission overview press conference will take place at 12:00 EST, followed by a crew press conference at 2:00 PM, and will be broadcast live on NASA TV (ref.).
Crew
The mission SpaceX Crew-6 will transport NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren “Woody” Hoburg, as well as United Arab Emirates astronaut Sultan Alneyadi and Roscosmos astronaut Andrey Fedyaev. The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon Endeavour spacecraft is not expected before February 26th from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A.
This will be Stephen Bowen’s fourth spaceflight, he’s a veteran of three Space Shuttle missions: STS-126 in 2008, STS-132 in 2010, and STS-133 in 2011. He has accumulated more than 40 days in space, including 47 hours and 18 minutes during seven spacewalks. As the mission commander, he will be responsible for all phases of the flight, from launch to return. This space mission will be Hoburg’s first flight since his selection as an astronaut in 2017. As a pilot, he will be responsible for the systems and performance of the spacecraft. Alneyadi will make his first spaceflight, representing the United Arab Emirates’ Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center.
Russian Fedyaev will also make his first spaceflight and will serve as a mission specialist. He working to monitor the spacecraft during the dynamic launch and return flight phases. Once on board the ISS, the entire crew will be flight engineers as part of Expedition 69 mission.
